David Weber is a prolific writer of science fiction and fantasy. He has written over 30 books and has contributed to several others with Eric Flint, White, Steve and John Ringo. This review covers the first book on Basilisk Station in Honor Harrington series and an overview of the entire series.

This is the first book in the Honor Harrington series. In her honor we meet as she is about to take command of their first cruise. With a hyper-capable command under his belt and a second to start finally got his foot on the ladder of command. However, both his life and his career is about to take a turn for the worse.

Science Fiction, Fantasy and Religion

cience fiction and Fantasy (SFF) novels and stories often use religious themes as an integral part of the story. This may be due generally to the experimental or exploratory nature of the Science Fiction and Fantasy genre. Of course, the use of religious themes by SFF authors does not mean that religious faith is necessarily being promoted. Often, the stories are critical of religion as a human institution and theology as a relevant way of thought. However, in this article we consider the use of religious themes in SFF to achieve different storytelling perspectives using stories that deal with questions of a spiritual or religious nature.
