In-dependence of slavery is a compilation of views from the world of well-known poet, Claude McKay, and the world of Afro-Caribbean famous socialist, Michael Manley. Both men, although of different generations, are known for their dedication to social change in relation to the exploitation of peoples of African descent in the Western Hemisphere. Claude McKay Poetry was one of the great forces in achieving what is called the Black Renaissance literature.
During a period of almost four centuries approximately 4,000,000 Africans were transported to North America and the Caribbean islands and the results of the slave trade. Lloyd McCarthy, this book focuses mainly on the prospect of Jamaica, however, is relevant to the social, political and economic everywhere.
